Sølvgarden Hotell & Feriesenter is a family business strategically located in the middle of Setesdal where the roads between east and west (Oslo – Stavanger) and north and south (Kristiansand – Bergen) intersect.
Hosted by Lindy and Torfinn Rysstad, Sølvgarden is a family business with several family members working both at the hotel and at the silver workshop.
When you first see Sølvgarden Hotell, it probably reminds you most of all of a small fairytale castle. A bit of adventure in combination with Setesdal's culture and traditions offers an exciting interior and vibrant decoration in good dialogue with modern facilities that we know you will appreciate. The hotel has 28 rooms, including a beautiful tower suite, as well as 17 cabins.
Tradition for generations
Sølvgarden Hotell is the result of determined efforts from several generations of Rysstad. It started with a small campsite in 1960. Since then, it has been built up step by step. First a sanitary facility, then four cabins, and then an entire cabin park. The kiosk where you could buy ice cream and soft drinks became a cafeteria. Trygve Rysstad was responsible for the big promise in 2009 when the hotel building as we know it today was completed – a fairy tale castle in Setesdal that combines family history, the silver tradition and modern guest experiences. Both Inger and Trygve Rysstad are trained as silversmiths with filigree as their specialty, and the family tradition in the profession goes back to the 1800th century. It has often been three generations Rysstad at the silver workshop when the orders were to be done.
The next generation has now taken over the responsibility of taking Sølvgarden forward. Torfinn Rysstad is the owner and CEO, and is laying the foundation for the further development of the family business. He combines pride in tradition with a willingness to think new things – and works to ensure that Sølvgarden is both a cultural carrier for Setesdal and a modern travel destination with an eye towards the future.
